There are a number of changes around the Wine Export Certification system at the moment – some from MPI and some through a review of our own systems.

Here is a list of what’s happening:

MPI’s new Trade Certificate system:
Bouquets to the team at MPI; an extensive engagement with the industry appears to have resulted in a user-friendly site and successful rollout. This new platform is being rolled out for all export industries certified by MPI, but wine was prioritised as the first industry.

Price increase from Asure Quality

  • Asure Quality have advised a 4% increase to most Export Testing prices, although a higher increase on the Sorbic testing. An updated rates schedule will be shared directly with clients using these services.

Reduced testing for EU
As a result of the EU trade negotiations, there is now reduced number of tests required for entry to the EU and UK market.

  • Asure Quality are currently setting this up in their systems, so until they have this finalised, we will continue to offer the standard EU testing suite.
  • We will advise when the ‘EU Lite’ testing comes on-line (we expect this to be a slightly lighter price too)

WineWorks changes:

  • Invoicing codes have been streamlined to reduce the number of charges on an invoice; multiple tests are now bundled into a single charge code, and includes a reference to the Lab where it was tested. These new codes are detailed here.
  • Option to specify sample quantities from the line:  The move to self-management for the sensory analysis and retention samples has meant some clients wish to take less than the previously required quantity.

WineWorks Marlborough

    • In the new year Marlborough will offer the ability to choose alternative labs for Export testing. We will be sending details about this change to Marlborough clients shortly.
