WineWorks have just taken another step on their journey to reduce their impact on the planet.
Following many years focused on reduction of waste to landfill, water usage and energy consumption – we are now certified as part of the Toitū Envirocare carbon reduce programme, enabling us to accurately measure our Carbon footprint for the services we offer our clients.
In 2019-20, our baseline year for achieving reductions against, our footprint was measured as 1106 tCO2e across our three plants in Auckland, Hawkes Bay and Marlborough.
We aim to reduce our carbon footprint by 30% over the next three years, a massive target but one we will strive to achieve, and we won’t stop when we get there.
We have also committed to becoming Carbon Zero before 2030.
WineWorks are proud to be leading the way as the only contract bottling company in NZ to be accredited with a recognised carbon reduction program. We hope others will follow and recognise the value this brings to NZ and its commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement.
The NZ wine industry has always been keen to share good ideas and solve problems together, the need and opportunity to do this has never been greater than now.
Global warming is not a possibility, it is happening. Fortunately, we can do something about it and make a real difference together. Please get in touch to share ideas or see if we can work together to reduce our impact on the planet. Whether you’re a client with us or not, we are passionate about achieving great outcomes and have the expertise to help. Contact Gowan if you want to discuss this
